Wholesale Gorilla or native Shopify B2B?
Wholesale Gorilla puts unlimited price rules and customer price groups on its $34.95 Lite plan, but net terms, the quick order form and hidden products start at $69.95, and volume discounts and payment terms at $149.95. Native Shopify B2B includes terms, quantity rules and volume breaks on every plan from Basic up. Its catch is the 3-catalog limit below Plus, so stores with many price groups need a plan before switching.
Where tag-driven price groups end up
In most wholesale apps a buyer's price is decided by a tag on the customer record: tag someone wholesale-gold and they see gold prices. Native Shopify B2B doesn't use tags for pricing. A buyer is a contact in a company, the company has one or more locations, and each location is assigned a catalog that holds prices and quantity rules1.
The switch is mostly a regrouping exercise. Each customer becomes a contact, each address becomes a location, and each price group becomes a catalog. Customer tags can stay for email segmentation, but they stop controlling price.

The 3-catalog question
Gorilla's Lite plan already allows unlimited price groups. Native B2B on Basic, Grow and Advanced allows 3 active catalogs across all B2B markets3. If you have five price groups, we usually find two of them differ only by a volume break, so they fold into one catalog with quantity price breaks. If they truly need separate prices, that's either Plus (from $2,300 a month5) or keeping the app. The B2B plan-fit checker walks through it.
Reasons to stay on Wholesale Gorilla
- You run more than 3 genuinely different price groups and Plus isn't in the budget yet.
- You lock whole pages or the entire store behind login, not just prices.
- Your wholesale shipping logic is complex and already works in the app.
The switchover, in order
- List every price group and the customer tags that put buyers in it.
- Group buyers into companies, with one location per ship-to address.
- Map price groups to catalogs, merging small groups with volume breaks where prices are close.
- Import with Matrixify, then compare each buyer's price on a sample of SKUs.
- Remove the app's theme code, switch off its rules, then uninstall.
