How we work

How a project runs, from first call to launch

In short

One 15-minute intro call, then everything happens in writing in your own Basecamp project. You pay through a Shopify checkout link, complete the intake, and the clock starts once the Start Line is met. We build in a transfer store, post a written update every business day, run one consolidated feedback round on staging, and hand over the keys at launch.

Seven steps, one call

1

15-minute intro call

Where you're moving from, how custom the store should be, and whether you sell wholesale. You leave with a fixed price and a launch-ready date.

2

Checkout and intake

You pay through a Shopify checkout link. Your Basecamp project and the intake form arrive straight away.

3

Start Line

The clock starts the business day after payment, the intake form, platform access and brand assets are all in.

4

Build in a transfer store

We build in a Shopify development store under our Partner account, so you pay no Shopify subscription while we work.

5

Daily written updates

Every business day: what was done, what's next, what we need from you.

6

One consolidated feedback round

You review the staging store and send all comments in one list. Anything that doesn't match the spec is a bug, fixed free.

7

Launch and handover

Delta sync, redirects live, ownership transferred, payments switched on. The fix window starts.

The Start Line, exactly

The clock starts on the first business day after all four of these are in:

  1. Payment received.
  2. Completed intake form.
  3. Admin or API access to your old platform.
  4. Brand assets: logo, fonts and colours, plus imagery for any new sections.

Delays on your side pause the clock day for day. Design approvals get 2 business days for a reply, and after that the clock pauses. This is what lets us put a date in writing and attach a refund to it.

Why a transfer store

Shopify Partners can build in a development store and transfer ownership when it's ready. You don't pay a Shopify plan during the build, and the old store keeps selling untouched. At launch you accept the transfer, pick your plan and switch on payments. If you've already opened a Shopify store, tell us at intake and we'll work in it as a collaborator instead.

There's a content freeze on the old platform after the final export, then a delta sync of new orders and customers right before launch.

What a daily update looks like

Day 6 of 15 · on track for Fri, Nov 13 Done: collection pages styled; 1,412 products imported, 37 with four options split as agreed; redirect map at 2,104 rows. Next: product page sections (size chart, care); reviews import. Need from you: the photo for the "Our workshop" section, by Thursday.

That's an illustration of the format, not a real client's update. Every update follows the same three lines, so nothing gets lost in a thread.

Who does the work

A senior Shopify expert with more than ten years of Shopify work runs every project, start to finish. Automated tooling handles the repetitive parts (data mapping, redirect lists, QA crawls), and every output is reviewed by that same person before it reaches your store. You talk to one person in writing, not an account manager.

What we ask of you

One decision-maker, replies within the windows above, and a content freeze when we say so. That's it. If the call is more useful than reading this, it's 15 minutes: see how quoting works. The full sequence we run on a Move is in the migration checklist.
