Shopify vs BigCommerce after the June 2026 plan change
Both platforms list the same prices ($39, $105 and $399 a month). Since June 1, 2026, BigCommerce ties its plans to sales, auto-upgrading at $30K and $100K trailing GMV. Its Scale plan charges 0.9% above $33,333 a month, and non-embedded payment providers carry a 2.0% to 0.6% fee. Shopify doesn't force a plan change on revenue below Plus, and its native B2B starts on Basic. BigCommerce's price lists and B2B Edition sit on its contract-priced Performance plan.
Same sticker price, different meter
The list prices match almost exactly. The difference is what makes the bill move. BigCommerce now measures trailing 12-month GMV and moves you up a plan when you cross $30K or $100K. On Scale it adds 0.9% of monthly GMV above $33,3331. Shopify's Basic, Grow and Advanced plans don't change with revenue; you choose when to upgrade.
For a store doing $60K a month on Scale, that 0.9% applies to about $26,700, roughly $240 a month on top of the plan. That's our arithmetic from BigCommerce's published rule, not a quote. Your own numbers decide it.

Reasons to stay on BigCommerce
- You're on Performance with B2B Edition, and your buyers rely on quotes and shopping-list approvals every week.
- You run several storefronts from one BigCommerce back office and they share a catalog.
- Your revenue sits comfortably inside a plan's GMV band and you use an embedded payment provider, so the 2026 changes don't touch your bill.
Moving across
BigCommerce modifiers, root-level URLs and price lists are the three things to plan. They're covered on the BigCommerce to Shopify migration page. If you're on B2B Edition, the B2B Edition comparison goes feature by feature.
